Abstract In both these new editions, the authors are well-known experienced clinicians and academicians, who have the ability to present their accumulated knowledge in a most acceptable manner. The information is not only useful to students but also to intern and resident groups, and to physicians in general medicine. Speaking of both texts in general, numerous well-prepared illustrations, plus diagrams, enhance the value, especially to the student, as do the sections dealing with methods of using instruments in the examination of the ear, nose, and throat. Indexing is quite adequate. At the end of each chapter is a good list of older key references (selective readings) and newer ones, some as late as 1963. Huey helicopter specs. A somewhat limited coverage of the subject, with compactness, has advantages. Nevertheless, since otolaryngologists actively participate in the wider aspects of the specialty and do much to improve general knowledge in areas such as facial nerve paralysis.
